Nationwide internet outage

Timoci Vula
Thursday, November 08, 2012

A NATIONWIDE outage in Telecom Fiji backbone network resulted in the blackout of Internet services to its Connect customers.

And in a statement last night, Telecom Fiji and Connect said the cause of the outage was because of an unforeseen fault on an equipment in its backbone network.

The statement said the faulty equipment was replaced at 2pm yesterday and "normalising the network is currently being undertaken".

"We sincerely apologise for these outages," the companies said via the statement.

"We wish to advise that every effort is being made to prevent these outages recurring, including investing in additional capacity to deliver a better customer experience going forward," it added.
