THAT familiar Maroon jersey is back on the sevens stage. Nabua is back in the top flight of the abbreviated code.
There was so much joy on the Nabua bench after they beat Sharks 12-7 in an elimination match at the Great Eight Sevens.
That victory at Lawaqa Park last evening saw the team qualify for the lucrative Fiji's Coral Coast Sevens.
Coach Joji Navonu was full of praise for his young brigade. including Fiji under-20 rep Jimilai Rokoduru.
"I have players from the Nabua club and also some boys from my village (Rokovoka, Nalawa, Ra)," Navonu said.
They may not be in the league of the Nabua of the late 80s and 90s but Navonu and company are keen to make their mark against the best of the best in sevens.
"This is only our fourth tournament but the boys are improving with each game," Navonu said.
"There is a lot of interest and even Tomasi Cama Sr turned up to help."
Cama, the late Vesi Rauluni, his brother Vili, Waisale Serevi, Pauliasi Tabulutu were the key players for Nabua under the guidance of the late Ratu Kitione Vesikula when they ruled the local sevens scene some 20 years ago.
