FORMER Fiji sevens skipper Emosi Vucago's Mala Young Boys were beaten by Red Rock One 26-14 in anb elimination match at the Great Eight Sevens at Lawaqa Park last evening.
Vucago and his men looked to be staging a fightback midway through the second half but Red Rock's Jone Macilai put the game beyond their reach after slicing in through the opposition defence to score near the posts.
The US-based winger Botitu did not feature in that match.
Both Red Rock teams made it through to the quarter-finals and will take part in Fiji's Coral Coast Sevens from November 15-17.
Red Rock Two beat Nasesevia 19-7 in the last elimination match last night.
The match of the elimination rounds was the showdown between Police Two and the Sakeasi Vonolagi-coached Navy.
Two players were sent-off including former Fiji rep Epeli Vuniwaqa and one player shown the yellow card.
Police Two led right up until the end when they were reduced to five players following a sin-bin.
This saw Navy's Ilikena Ragura dart in under the sticks to ensure his side victory, 17-14.
