RAKIRAKI residents will be advised of the new rates levied during a consultative forum at the Rakiraki Town Council office on Monday.

The town's interim special administrator Seini Raiko said as the town moved closer towards the levying of rates, more awareness programs and consultations would be held to advise potential ratepayers and to hear concerns they may have.

"Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki will be at the consultative forum for the very first meeting with ratepayers on the new rates that will be levied from January 1, 2013," she said.

"This meeting will allow us the opportunity to advise ratepayers of the new rates and also to hear what they have to say on the issue."

Ms Raiko said other developments at the rural centre included a successful Rakiraki on Sale that was conducted over three days and progress with the planned Rakiraki Municipal Market upgrade.
