POLICE sergeants in the Northern Division have been urged to know their roles and responsibilities well because they are supervisors in the various stations they work in.
Acting divisional police commander Northern Senior Superintendent of Police Fulori Rainibogi made the request at the Leadership, Skills and Management training for sergeants in Labasa yesterday.
SSP Rainibogi said being responsible was crucial for sergeants because officers with lower ranks were under their leadership. "Sergeants are supervisors in their respective workplace and whatever they command will be followed by the junior officers," she said.
"Service deliverance should be efficient in order for officers on the ground to carry out their work properly.
"We are trying to combat crime in the north and the only way to go about it is to have good leaders who have the heart to lead the force into a positive dimension."
