THE Lautoka Football Association will hold its local league matches on Saturday and Sunday in a bid to meet the deadline for the nominations for the Kriz Signs National Club Championship zonal playoffs.

The LFA 2012 local league has been prolonged because of postponement after the referee's body refused to officiate matches of a particular club. LFA president Shalendra Prasad said they were negotiating with the Lautoka City Council to secure grounds for the weekend. He said the semi-final would be played next Monday.

"We will try and finish off the round robin competition this weekend," Prasad said.

"Once that is done, we will stage the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will represent Lautoka in the NCC.

"It is unfortunate that the postponements prolonged the season. Previously Lautoka used to be one of the first district associations to file in the nominations for the NCC."

Press is the frontrunner for a spot in the NCC.

The side leads the premier division with 31 points closely followed by FC Education on 30 points and Rifle Range on 29 points.
