MORE than 30 teams have been eyed for the Gibson Freight-sponsored 18 holes two-men Ambrose event which will be played at the Nadi Airport Golf Club this Saturday.
The one-day event is expected to attract top golfers from the Western Division.
The pair of YB Pillay and Ajesh Kumar head into the tournament as the favourites. This after the duo won the Zap Cup at the NAGC earlier this month.
They will face stiff competition from the pairs of Sanjay Krishna/Mohammed Sharif and Mohammed Faiyaz/Vinod Chauhan.
The father and son combination of Sanjesh and Shavil Prasad together with Avikash Chand and Nilesh Chand are also among the title contenders as well.
Gibson Freight manager Kamal Reddy said attractive prizes would be at stake in the tournament. Reddy said they expected more than 60 golfers.
"The two-men Ambrose is an interesting format," Reddy said. Meanwhile, the National Golf Association of Fiji will host the Srixon Cleveland-sponsored Fiji Amateur Mixed Foursomes Championship at the Fiji Golf Club on Sunday.
