ARIETA Mudunavoce will represent Fiji at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival which will be held in January next year.
Mudunavoce will feature in the 53 kilogram class. She is the lone weightlifter from the country named to participate in the event.
Julia Timi has been named as a reserve. According to Oceania Weightlifting Federation general secretary Paul Coffa, Timi could get into the squad if Tongan lifter Fakaola Tuipuloti failed to make the 63kg weight category.
"Julia from Fiji will be the reserve lifter in the event," Coffa said.
"A test will be held in Fiji and Tonga for both Julia and Fakaola."
The Australian Youth Olympic Festival will be held from January 17-19 in Sydney.
The lifters selected in the categories stipulated by the AYOF committee include: 62kg Elson Brechtefeld (Nauru), 53kg Arieta Mudunavoce (Fiji), 77kg Otang Karitema (Kiribati), 58kg Mathlynn Robert-Sasser (Marshall Islands), 85kg Steven Kari (Papua New Guinea), 63kg Fakaola Tuipuloti (Tonga), 105kg Petunu Opeloge (Samoa), 69kg Sandra Ako (Papua New Guinea).
