MOBIMEDIA Knights will take on HMT Barbarians in the inaugural Courts Elite Player League (EPL) final on November 10 at Albert Park in Suva.
The EPL competition, which was implemented to select a formidable national side for the upcoming international fixtures, had four teams participating.
Knights, Barbarians, Novotel Warriors and SportsWorld Bulls tussled with each other in what was dubbed as the most exciting cricket competition in the country. The Warriors and Bulls will compete for the third place playoff. Cricket Fiji development officer Josefa Rika said the EPL competition had helped in improving the skills of the players.
"I think in the past three years of development program, this has been the most successful tournament," he said.
"The standard has definitely improved. The boys have been impressive especially in batting, which has been our major concern.
"The amount of scores we have recorded in the competition were impressive. Seven players have scored 50 runs each in the competition so far."
Knights, with the services of Iniasi Cakacaka, Joji Bulabalavu, Kitione Tavo and captain Eric Browne, looks the favourites for the title.
But Seci Sekinini-coached Barbarians with the services of ace batsmen Viliame Yabaki and Inoke Cama along with quick bowler Tukana Tavo has been impressive.
Meanwhile, Cricket Fiji has a big boost ahead of the showdown after Fiji TV announced it will televise the final live on Fiji One.
"Following the completion of the finals, Cricket Fiji will be announcing a 25 member squad who will compete in a trial match on November 17 at Albert Park where the final 14 member squad will be selected to represent Fiji at the 2013 East Asia Pacific World T20 Qualifier to be played in Auckland," Rika added.
