THE Ministry of Labour will soon adopt a National Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Compliance and Enforcement policy.

While introducing new OHS reforms, Minister for Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment, Jone Usamate said the document would be introduced before the end of the year.

"This policy will be adopted by the National Occupational Health & Safety, Workmen's Compensation Service to assist workplaces in adopting a consistent effort that is effective in reducing the incidences of work related injury and disease," said Mr Usamate.

He said it would also ensure that compliance was achieved efficiently while maintaining community confidence that the laws were being administered fairly and consistently.

Mr Usamate said an OHS awards night was being planned by the ministry.
