LOCAL fashion designer Bayvick Lawrence has made a name for himself in the fashion world through his creative Fiji Pacific fusion designs.

The 20-year-old of Lomanikoro, Bau had a chance to showcase his beautiful collection to the Fijian community in Sydney, Australia, during a fashion show held earlier this month.

Mr Lawrence said he was invited by the Fijian community to display his designs and many were impressed and supportive of the growing local talents, particularly in fashion.

He said stunning models showcased his designs, which made a big impression on the crowd.

"I had some really refreshing comments after the first show which had motivated me throughout the week," Mr Lawrence said.

"After the fashion show in Sydney, I had to showcase my collection at Lidcombe Oval in Parramatta where the Pacific community had gathered to celebrate Fiji Day.

"For me the Fiji Day celebration was like a mini Hibiscus Festival, where we had lovely food and rides.

"I had made a resort wear range for the show which would suit the people and the weather."

Mr Lawrence said his designs, which were showcased at the Lidcombe Oval, was decorated with Lapita prints which gave them a genuine Fijian touch.

"The vibrant colours of the Lapita print were the highlight of the day and also the massive head pieces which went with the collections," Mr Lawrence said.

"My designs were also showcased at the Sydney Art Museum after the fashion show."

Apart from New South Wales the young designer also had a chance to showcase his designs to members of the Fijian community in Queensland.
