Safety awareness

A GROUP of officials from the Land Transport Authority will visit schools, settlements and villages in parts of Cakaudrove this week to increase awareness on road safety.

LTA spokesman Alfred Wiliame said the program would cover 15 villages, one school and a settlement in the area. He said the officials would visit schools and government officials in Labasa on Friday.

The team will conduct awareness on the perils of jaywalking in the northern town so members of the public can refrain from the practice.

Improve service

POLICE officers in the north have been reminded to improve their level of discipline, customer service and attendance in the fourth quarter this year to perk up their services. Acting divisional police commander northern Senior Superintendent of Police Fulori Rainibogi made the statement at the northern police officers third quarter parade last week. She said it was imperative the officers improved in these areas so they could reduce the overall crime rate in the north this year.
