IN a bid to bring the youths together, the Our Lady of Fatima Parish organised a Youths Sports Day at the Fiji National University grounds in Nasinu.
Over 300 youths participated in the day-long event which included netball, volleyball and sevens rugby competitions.
Parish Youth president Sailosi Tobeyaweni said the last sports day was held in 2007.
He said they were trying to revive the annual competition and the success of last Saturday's meet had boosted the morale of the organisers. "We had a good turnout of more than 300 participants at the Youths Sports Day," Tobeyaweni said.
"The main reason to organise this competition is to allow the youths from our parish to meet and know each other.
"Looking at the success the event has gained this year, we are optimistic of hosting it again next year and making it an annual event."
Teams were divided into four sectors. Each sector represented areas between Laucala Beach and Wainibuku Bridge.
Tobeyaweni said each sector setd two teams to compete in each sport played during the day.
Sector Two won the rugby 7s competition while Sector Four scooped the men's and women's volleyball before winning the netball competition.
"Therefore, Sector Four was crowned the overall winner."
