FORMER Flying Fijians skipper Akapusi Qera scored a try to helped his Gloucester side beat Leicester 27-21 in their Aviva Premiership clash at Kingsholm yesterday.

Both teams came into the match on the back of victories in European competitions and went on to play their part in a thrilling contest on their return to premiership action.

Qera, who will not be part of next month's Flying Fijians Europe tour, played a big role in the win with his tireless work at the breakdowns and strong defence.

Nadi man Vereniki Goneva played a quiet game for Leicester as he was closely marked by England international James Simpson-Daniel.

Flying Fijians wing and former Fiji 7s star player Waisea Nayacalevu was in top form for his Stade Francais side as they toppled Top 14 points leaders Toulouse 28-24 at Stade de France on Saturday.

Former Lautoka fullback Noa Naikataci scored a crucial try for Clermont as they beat Biarritz 19-12 in their Top 14 clash.

In the run on team for Biarritz was former Digicel Fiji 7s forward Seremaia Burotu. Burotu has played in the backline for the club.

Former Flying Fijians centre Gabriel Lovobalavu appeared for Bayonnaise in their 59-0 thrashing at the hands of Toulon on Saturday.

Toulon scored eight tries, seven of which were converted by former England star flyhalf Jonny Wilkinson.

Lovobalavu previously played for Toulon before moving to Bayonnaise.
