Short of goal but happy

VUNIDAKUA Methodist Church members of Cunningham on Saturday raised more than $5000 at their annual fundraising drive to repaint their church and deposit money into their Fijian Holdings Union trust account.

The church members were short of reaching their $17,000 target but were happy to have at least gathered as a sector to celebrate with meke performances, singing and dancing on the day.

After a lapse of 12 years, Vunidakua church members felt that organising such a day would foster unity among the church members.

Also through working together, they are hopeful of being able to achieve their long-term goals of refurbishing the Nasilivata church located at Cunningham Rd, stage two and deposit $2500 into their account at the Fijian Holdings Unit Trust.

"There are four churches under the Vunidakua Methodist church umbrella and we are happy that we have gathered here in numbers to be part of the celebration. Our reverend has given $2500 which will be put in our account at Fijian Holdings.

"Now, we are just fundraising for the repainting and upgrading of our church at stage two," Vunidakua chief steward Rusiate Matewale said.
