THE Macuata Volleyball Association has continued to bloom with overwhelming response from the community.

Association president Filomena Baba said the number of teams increased every week to participate in friendly games at Labasa and this had been superb.

"We started off small last month and the interest from the community, including Army and Police Wives has been high.

"We have also changed our name from Labasa to Macuata association because we want to include the teams from villages as well," Baba said.

She added they would soon organise a tournament and invite teams from the other provinces of Bua and Cakaudrove.

"We need to revive this sport in Vanua Levu and it is important that we involve everyone in the rural areas too."

The newest team that joined yesterday was the Army and Police Wives.

Team captain Dicere Tavatuilagi said involving themselves with the sport provided an opportunity to better their skills.

"We have just returned from our tournament of Army Wives in Suva and volleyball is part of the event so we need to better our skills by playing with other teams in Labasa."

The Tuatua Men's team yesterday beat the Beginners in two-straight sets in the final match.
