FRENDZ created a piece of history in the Nadroga Volleyball Association club competition after winning the weekly Quality Rentals women's challenge match at the Lawaqa courts in Sigatoka yesterday.
Frendz made a stunning comeback after losing the first set 9-15 to win the remaining sets 15-14 and 15-12.
Club president Judy Kumar was overwhelmed with the win and hailed the players for the great effort.
"This is the first time we are playing volleyball because we are a netball club. To win the challenge match is a big achievement for the club, which was formed earlier this year."
Kumar said the inclusion of regulars Litiana Rabubu, Kelera Nasita, Elina Tavaga, Nanise Bulou, Serewaia Makutu and captain Salote Arieta paid the dividend.
Frendz will defend the title against Koast Guard in the challenge match next weekend.
Meanwhile in the Bula Travel Tours men's challenge, Koast Guard retained the title after beating Pixie Katz 2-1.
