FIJI'S Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has confirmed that the body of the 22-year -old mother who was allegedly stabbed to death by her partner will be buried in Sydney.
A statement from the ministry said relatives had requested that the body of Adi Cavora Baleimalea Bale Tavuki from Nakini, Naitasiri be buried there.
It stated that arrangements were now being made to facilitate the travel of her mother to attend the funeral.
"The NSW Department of Community Services will determine the future welfare of the deceased's 13-month old child, who is an Australian citizen," the statement said.
"For the immediate future, it has been determined that the child will remain in the care of relatives and maternal grandfather, who is also an Australian citizen resident in Sydney," it further stated.
Tavuki's 29-year-old Fijian partner is now in the custody of Australian Corrective Services after the alleged incident that occurred on Sunday at the couple's bungalow at North Narrabeen in Sydney.
