FORMER Suva and Nasinu reps have formed the Nasinu Masters and are headed for a tour of New Zealand.
Nasinu Masters FC is a newly formed team through some well thought ideas initiated by Intiyaz Khan (Ex Suva/Fiji rep), Lawrence Robert (Ex Nasinu/ Fiji U20 rep) and Kasib Nasibdar.
"The purpose to form this team is to unite former soccer reps; keeping fit, networking with players based in overseas and soccer development," said Robert.
"The team is led by well-known ex-Nasinu president Mr Sadashivan Naicker and coached by Manoj Kumar (ex Nasinu/Suva coach and rep). The team includes players from Nasinu and Suva districts as well as some ex Nasinu reps residing overseas."
The list has Khan, Robert, Nasibdar, Yogesh Nair, Binesh Prasad, Ashwin Chand, Itesh Singh, Joela Baledrokadroka, Jagindar Singh, Avinesh Chand, Andrick Lal, Reginald Lal, Dharmen Prasad and Umesh Prasad.
Overseas-based players/officials are Dheeraj Singh, Niraj Mudaliar, Nitesh Prasad and Mani Narayan.
Nasinu Masters FC will be participating in upcoming veterans tournament in Auckland, New Zealand, from 22nd November to 25th November 2012.
"The major sponsor for this tour is Lincoln Refrigeration Limited and co-sponsors are Queensland A-Z, Pasifika Tents, Vishnu Holdings Ltd, KBL, Lodoni Trp, Keith Customs, Maxsafe Security, Dee Cees Bus Co, Autocare, Classic Paints, Jaiswal Buildings and more to join in the next three weeks," Robert said.
The team is training at Rishikul Grounds.
Robert said the Nasinu Masters FC planned to provide training program to schools within Nasinu-Suva corridor from next year "to improve the standard of soccer in our district".
This is a small way of contributing towards lifting the soccer standard in Fiji.
The club is run by subscription from team members.
