THE Water Authority of Fiji has formed a men's and women's team to play in the Raiwai Volleyball Association weekly competition.
Raiwai official Maika Kini said the Water Authority teams would be playing their first games in the competition today.
"The new club is expected to bring tough and exciting competition to our weekly matches," Kini said.
Kini said the first round of games would be played at the Eagles courts after the final of their knockout tournament last week.
Kini said a new feature of their competition would be the introduction of a weekly challenge.
"We will be introducing a challenge match as a main game in the afternoon," Kini said.
"Rebels and Veterans will be the two first two teams to battle for the weekly challenge title.
"These two teams featured in the final of our season opening knockout held last week where Rebels won."
Kini said Rebels was the team to beat in the weekly competition as they had Raiwai's top players Nimilote Lua, Epeli Ratabacaca, Neori Buli and Mika Tuvoli.
"But they (Rebels) will have to lift their performance to try and contain the experienced Veterans side which will be led by former national rep Kalitoni Navunidawa."
Kini said they were encouraging women's teams to join their competition.
