THIS is the Navua football team of 1975. The Reds were in the lower tier (B Division) of the Fiji Football Association competition.

Former Navua goalkeeper Raymond Reddy sent this picture to remember his former mates in The Fiji Times' new 'Flashback' section.

This was a champion Navua team having won the 1975 B Division IDC Trophy in Labasa and later went on to retain the crown in Ba the following year.

In 1975, they also won the Southern Division King Irving and Mcllwain Cup competitions.

"(We) won a lot of hearts around at that time," former policeman Reddy said.

"In sports you must be mentally, spiritually and physically dedicated with enthusiasm and motivate self instinct."

The mentor in the Navua side back then was former Suva rep and former Mr Fiji, the late Pio Cavuilati.
