A MAN who allegedly killed a 37-year-old man outside a nightclub along Victoria Parade in Suva on Sunday night was refused bail by the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Aminio Rawaiduvu, 32, appeared before Magistrate Chaitanya Lakshman charged with one count of murder.

Rawaiduvu sought bail and his lawyer, Simione Valenitabua, told the court his client needed to instruct him further on case facts.

He requested that his client be granted bail with strict conditions which he guaranteed his client would comply with. However, State lawyer Luisa Latu objected saying the court must take into account the seriousness of the offence and upon bail he might interfere with State witnesses.

Mr Lakshman ruled it was in the best interest of the public that the accused be remanded.

However, he said Mr Valenitabua could make the same application to the High Court where the case has been transferred. He ordered for a surety to be present for the defence bail application.

It's alleged the deceased fell onto the pavement after being punched by Rawaiduvu.

The case has been adjourned to November 2.
