WOMEN who participated in the Rural Women's Day Celebrations got the chance to showcase their sewing skills during a fashion show.

The Sew and Grow Fashion Show featured budding designers competing in different categories with models gracing the catwalk wearing sulu and jaba, salwaar kameez, bula shirts and children's dresses.

Minister for Women Dr Jiko Luveni encouraged the rural women to step out of their comfort zones and to have confidence in their creations.

"Ladies, we may come from different villages and settlements but we serve one common purpose which is to live a fulfilling life, to be knowledgeable and skilled, healthy, to have a happy family and to also have our own purse," she said. "To be successful the first thing to do is fall in love with your work," Dr Luveni said.
