Police maintenance

A TEAM of police officers from the Building and Maintenance Unit will visit the north next week to identify areas for minor maintenance work at police posts and stations. This was revealed by police chief administration officer Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Penjueli at a workshop in Labasa. ACP Penjueli said the officers would discuss with the divisional police commander the allocation of funds for the proposed work. He added such works would be carried out next year.

Travel allowance in cash

POLICE officers throughout the country will no longer receive travel allowances through cheques but cash from next year following the decision to decentralise the police budgetary allocation. Police chief administration officer ACP Police Joseph Penjueli said all financial transactions would be endorsed by the divisional police commanders and not from the headquarters in Suva. He said this would mean transparency and accountability within the force.
