THE Ministry of Education has urged parents and guardians of students who were sent home because of unpaid school fees to contact education officers at the ministry or the permanent secretary regarding this issue.
Permanent secretary for Education Dr Brij Lal said schools were not allowed to remove students because of non-payment of school fees.
He also said students should not be sent home for any reason that would hinder a child's progress in learning.
He said parents and guardians of children who were sent home should report it to the ministry.
This newspaper had highlighted a case where, despite making arrangements with the school, a concerned parent's children were still sent home.
"Ask them to contact me or any education officer," Dr Lal said.
