ALL boxers competing in the upcoming Wild West Boxing Promotions at Nadi's Prince Charles Park in December have signed for the event.

This was confirmed by promoter Abdul Khan yesterday and he said the boxers were eager to step into the ring. "All the boxers have signed their contracts and even Samoa's Pele Faumei has emailed me his signed contract," said Khan.

Fiji's current welterweight champion, Abhay Chand will face Faumei in a 10x3 round in the main bout of the event. Nadi-based boxer Mohammed Shameem will face Krishneel Mudaliar of Suva in the 12x3 main supporting bout.

"Now that all the boxers have signed, I would like to ask them to prepare very hard for this fight so that they can give boxing fans a good show in December," Khan said.

Meanwhile, Pratap Asphalt Quarries Limited will sponsor the event for the second year in a row.

Managing director Suresh Pratap said they would sponsor the event every year since the Pratap Shield competition would be part of the event.

"Last year, we donated the shield that will be competed for between Police and Army every year so it's fitting that we continue to support this event," Pratap said.

"Boxing is a dying sport in the country and we want to help with its revival so it can get back up on its feet."

Khan thanked Pratap for his support and said major events would not be successful without the support of the sponsors.

"It's good to know that we have Suresh's backing for the event once again and with their help we will make this event bigger than last year."
