THE High Court in Lautoka has sentenced Ba businessman Mohammed Rizwan to 12 months behind bars.
According to FICAC, Rizwan was convicted of endeavouring to obtain VAT refund using forged documents filed in the name of one Forzana Zurin Nisha.
Rizwan appeared before Justice Sitambarampillai Thurairaja last Thursday for sentencing in two cases filed against him by FICAC relating to fraud on VAT returns. He pleaded guilty in a case in which he was charged for endeavouring to obtain VAT refund using forged documents filed in the name of one Mohammed Irshad.
