SUGAR cane growers in Ba who had raised concerns about issues with the rail transport system will have their concerns addressed when the Fiji Sugar Corporation executive chairman Abdul Khan visits the mill this morning.

While most cane farmers have expressed satisfaction with the manner in which cane has been transported and processed, some have maintained the slow delivery of rail carts was an issue.

Mr Khan said he took all concerns raised by growers very seriously and would attend to the issue this morning.

He also said concerns about mill performances and stoppages had been addressed.

"Rarawai has improved significantly over the past year and this is a direct result of rehabilitation efforts conducted by our engineers. There were a few minor issues with the boilers but these have since been addressed," he said.

Meanwhile, prominent grower, Gyan Singh said farmers who raised concerns were a minority as the majority of growers were confident with the improved mill performance and looked forward to an even better season next year.

"The Rarawai mill has performed far better than the same period last year and most growers are happy," he said.
