PROJECT Bula Mai (PBM) is hoping to exceed the outstanding success of its inaugural fundraiser, Style Fiji 2011, when it launches its latest venture — Style Fiji Fashion Fiesta 2012 — on December 1.

A statement released by PBM said about $200,000 was raised last year for the refurbishment and upgrade of the Nadi Community Hospital and while the target for this year's event is $100,000, PBM is hoping to raise more than.

According to PBM, the 2011 event saw in excess of 450 people taking part in the fundraising fashion show and this year, Style Fiji 2012 promises to deliver even more.

"Guests will be treated to a fashion extravaganza, including fashion designers, hair stylists, make-up artists and sporting personalities who have given up their time to come to Fiji to assist with Project Bula Mai," said PBM in the statement.

With the funds raised last year, PBM has purchased brand new medical equipment from MedSpares New Zealand after consultations with them to the tune of $80,000, which were flown in free-of-charge from Auckland to Nadi, courtesy of Air Pacific.

"The medical equipment was commissioned and officially handed over to the Minister for Health, Dr Neil Sharma on Saturday July 14 2012 and the PBM committee acknowledges the assistance and guidance from the sub-divisional medical officer Nadi and his team for their knowledge and advice on the medical equipment best suited to purchase for the Nadi Hospital," PBM said.
