RESIDENTS living along Lautoka's Drasa Avenue will have to put up with road rehabilitation works until early December.
Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) change manager Mike Rudge said work being carried out on one of Lautoka's main thoroughfares was taking longer than expected.
"After some of the concerns around the longevity of the treatments on other sections of road (Nadi Back Road and Denarau Rd), the FRA and NAIM identified that alternative treatments were essential going forward," he said.
"We have instigated what is known as deep-lift Asphalt construction. This should see a more resilient and long lasting repair.
"Unfortunately, because it involved the removal and replacement of up to 300mm of pavement with asphalt, this is a much longer construction method than a simple overlay treatment."
