SUVA soccer side's celebration of their Inter-District Championship win today will be bigger and better compared to their Fiji FACT victory.
This was confirmed to Times Sport by Suva Football Association president Mahen Prasad.
On Wednesday, the capital city was officially declared champions of the Courts-sponsored IDC after the final between host's Ba was abandoned by referees at Govind Park.
Prasad said they had started preparing for the celebrations even before the decision on the final was announced.
"From Monday I had started making arrangements for a party because I was confident we would be declared the champions," he said.
"This celebration will be bigger and better than the celebration we had for winning the Fiji FACT. This is because the Fiji FACT win was after 17 years but the wait for the IDC title was even longer — 28 years."
He said he had received a permit for a march today from the Suva Flea Market to Sukuna Park where a presentation for players would be held.
There will be a special reception and awards night for the players and special guests at the civic auditorium.
The players of the Suva side are expected to share more than $15,000.
"All the prizemoney of the $15,000 cheque will be divided between the players.
"Some money from sponsorship and some from other donations and contributions will be added towards the total that will be shared among the players.
"We will calculate the effort of each player in the tournament and divide the money according to that ratio.".
He has asked fans to wear white and witness the celebrations at Sukuna Park.
