THE Suva City Council is planning to have a combined celebration for all the sporting achievements of the capital city side this year.
Suva sides hold rugby's Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy, soccer's Lloyd-Farebrother Trophy, the National Netball Championship title and hockey's MH Fiji Open.
SCC special administrater Chandu Umaria said they were looking at hosting the event on November 9 or 10 at Albert Park.
He said a committee would be formed to ensure everything for the celebrations were planned well.
"We are planning to have a combined celebration for the Suva rugby, Suva soccer, Suva hockey and Suva netball sides next month," Umaria said.
"We would like to see our players getting some monetary prize and so we will form a committee on Monday and they will look at the sponsorship and other arrangements for the celebrations."
Umaria said this was a successful sporting year for Suva and a celebration was necessary.
"This is Suva's year for sports — they won the IDC after 28 years, the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy after seven years and the hockey and netball sides also emerged victorious in their competitions.
"And if the Suva women's soccer side wins their Inter-District Championship competition in Ba this weekend, they will also be part of the celebrations."
Umaria urged fans and supporters of the respective sports to get behind their teams and congratulate the players and officials on their success.
"We have decided to host this on November 9 or 10 as Diwali is close to that date and it will be good for the public to have a get together before the public holiday.
"So we would like to encourage fans to be proud of their teams and to come and attend their celebrations," Umaria said.
Suva beat Ba 1-0 to lift the IDC last weekend.
