Free entry

Entry is free for the Bargain Box Fiji Limited-sponsored women's Inter District Championship at Govind Park in Ba. The tournament is dubbed as the biggest spectacle for women's soccer in the country.

The heat

THE hot and humid conditions in Ba certainly got to the players during day-one of the tournament yesterday. Players were seen rushing to the sidelines on many occasions looking for the water bottles to rehydrate themselves.

Match updates

IT is good to note that the Fiji FA women's soccer committee is giving updates of all the matches at Govind Park. An announcement is made whenever a goal is scored and even the goal scorers name is highlighted. This is a far contrast to the men's IDC where this wasn't done during the pool stages.

Jersey colour

THE match between Lami and Tavua had to be delayed because both teams had the same jersey colour. Finally the match kicked off after the Tavua players donned orange bibs over their yellow jumper.

Ball boys

NO ball boys were seen during the opening round of the pool matches yesterday. The players were forced to retrieve the ball themselves whenever it went out.

Food stalls

NO food stalls were set up on the opening day of the tournament. There weren't any signs of juice sellers either.
