A TWO-DAY neutering campaign held in Nasinu early this month resulted in 71 domestic pets being neutered.
Nasinu special administrator Mosese Kama said the campaign was a joint operation between the council and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Present at the campaign were a team of four veterinarians, a vet technician, a vet nurse and a group of volunteers who conducted the clinic at two separate venues in Nasinu.
The council provided meals to the team as part of its contribution towards the campaign.
Mr Kama said since the service was free of charge, more pet owners should take advantage of such campaigns in the future.
He said the council would engage the use of Valelevu grounds next year to allow more space for dog owners and their pets.
"The Valelevu grounds are not only spacious but convenient as well since it is central for everyone," said Mr Kama.
Mr Kama said prior to future campaigns, the council would engage the media to create more awareness and announce the days and venue of the next campaign.
