A 45-YEAR-OLD businesswoman of Lami allegedly caught with 7.7 grams of dried leaves believed to be marijuana appeared in court on Wednesday.
Litiana Nanovo appeared before Magistrate Yohan Liyanage charged with one count of drug possession.
It's alleged Ms Nanovo was arrested at the Narain Jetty in Suva after returning from Kadavu.
The court heard that the police drug unit officers followed her to Suva after an investigation was conducted on Kadavu.
After being stopped at the jetty, officers searched her handbag and found a plastic bag containing 7.7 grams of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and some cigarette papers.
Defence lawyer Vasha Bano said she was not provided with the full disclosures.
Police prosecutor Sada Reddy said they would provide the defence with the analysis report while the court provided for the charge sheet.
Ms Bano also asked the court for an early adjournment because her client had a business on Kadavu.
"She has a business in Kadavu and she is the only one who looks after it," she said.
Magistrate Linayage adjourned the matter to November 5 for a plea to be taken.
