NOT only will people enjoy outstanding choreography from Peter Rockford Espiritu but they will also be supporting a worthy cause when they watch LIFE at the gala world premier next Wednesday.
The Oceania Dance Theatre presents LIFE, written, choreographed and directed by Mr Espiritu, the man who co-directored and choreographed Vaka, Drua and Fine Dancing.
LIFE is a journey through dance that utilises projections, spoken word, live music and theatre to weave together an artistic picture that shares intimate moments of one's life.
The concert which will be held at USP's Japan-Pacific ICT Theatre from 6:30pm, features a fusion of contemporary, hip-hop, ballet, abstract partnering and Oceania dance styles.
"A portion of the funds raised from the gala premiere will go to the Harlend Hostel for the Gospel School for the Deaf," Mr Espiritu said. "A lot of people don't think that arts can provide support for the community, so we did our homework and found that the Harlend Hostel needs true help with the running of the place and looking after children with special needs."
LIFE is the first full evening length dance production by Oceania Dance Theatre since Mr Espiritu was appointed artistic director last year. It explores a world that will move you in ways you never thought possible.
"People coming in to watch the show should expect to be spoken to in a different type of language.
"They will definitely be entertained and they will be pleasantly surprised. We hope that they will learn something about art and about themselves after watching LIFE."
The Gala World Premiere Opening will be on Wednesday October 24 at 8pm with public performances scheduled from October 25-27.
