TWO of the 15 Asian nationals facing charges of gaming without a licence and engaging in businesses without a permit applied for bail at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.
Huang Dong and Kelly Zhu applied for bail on medical grounds.
The two appeared before Magistrate Yohan Liyanage.
Their accomplices - Billy Chang, Lum Moon Woot, Yuen Siu Lui, Xufeng Su, Lee Yuk Hom, Zhu Hong Zhi, Shunrong Deng, Lee Pui Chin, Zhong Hua Yao, Lo Kwok On, Xiohong Kuang, Jin Ling Huang, Lu Kung Yee — also appeared in court yesterday.
Mr Liyanage ordered Mr Dong and Mr Zhu to provide the court with their medical documents today.
It was revealed that the court had a copy of the medical certificate from the Suva Private Hospital.
It revealed that the certificate referred to the urgent overseas medical treatment required by two men.
The court heard that both accused were not citizens of this country.
They are here on a three-year work contract with separate companies, the court was told.
It is alleged the 15 accused persons were gambling in Suva without a licence and also conducting a business in the city without a permit.
Mr Liyanage ordered the duo to reappear today for the court to consider and assess their travel documents.
