DESPITE a controversial start to the week, Ba residents will be able to celebrate when it holds its premier festival, the Vodafone Ba River Side Carnival, this weekend.
The event has eight contestants vying for the Miss Vodafone Ba River Side Carnival crown including Miss Civil Servant, Miss Ba Town Council, Miss Ba Market Vendors Association Miss Ba Taxi Operators Association, Miss Fai Spares Ltd, Miss Eco Oil, Miss Laka Transport and Miss Ba Horse Racing Committee.
During the celebrations, emphasis will be placed on the environment and its conservation. With the theme 'Go Green - Keep Ba Beautiful and Environmentally Friendly', the carnival is expected to draw a record crowd to the Ba Market Grounds on Saturday.
According to the Ba Town Council, proceeds raised from the seven-day fete will go towards beautification of the town.
