NO formal complaint was lodged with the Lautoka Corrections Centre by the family who claimed they were terrorised by an escapee.
The inmate, Rijendra Naidu, had escaped from the maximum facility before 7:30am on Monday.
In an earlier story by this newspaper, Naidu is alleged to have entered the compound of a family living on Dawai St in Natabua and stole clothes from their clothes line.
Nilesh Chand who made the initial complaint said his family was living in fear because of the incident.
He also alleged that it was the first time a theft had occurred in the 15 years he and his family resided at Natabua.
According to West prisons supervisor Oliver Fisher, a formal complaint has yet to be lodged by the family.
However, Mr Fisher said quick action by corrections officers resulted in Naidu's immediate recapture.
"We were alerted at around 7.30am and with the help of our dog unit we managed to recapture him not long after," said Mr Fisher. He said an investigation would be launched into the escape.
