THE Outrigger Men's and Mixed teams have been undergoing some last minute preparations as they aim to defend their titles at this weekends Fiji Hotel Workers Association volleyball tournament in Nadi.
Outrigger on the Lagoon public relations officer Una Murray said their men's and mixed teams have been preparing hard for the one-day tournament as they want to retain their titles.
Murray said their women's team had also been training hard as they wanted to reclaim the women's title which they lost to Vomo last year.
"Our men's and women's teams have been champions in their grades for sometime but our women's team were unfortunate to lose the title last year to Vomo," Murray said.
"Our aim this year is not only to successfully defend the men's and mixed titles but to also win the women's competition.
"Training has been good and now as we draw closer to the tournament everyone is now looking forward to the competition on Saturday."
Murray who is also a tournament official said everything regarding the tournament was in place and they expect a very good tournament.
Murray said they believe this year's tournament would be tougher than last year's tournament which was held in the North.
"From what we've heard all teams for this year's tournament have been training hard so we expect some tough competition in all three grades," Murray said.
The annual event to be held at the St Mary's Primary School grounds in Nadi starts on Saturday morning.
Sixteen teams will compete in the women's competition while 27 have been confirmed in men's competition.
Nineteen teams have been confirmed in the mixed competition while three teams will play in the Veterans competition.
