THE Suva women's soccer side is not worried about security issues when they participate in the Fiji Football Association Women's Inter-District Championship in Ba's Govind Park.
On Sunday, the Suva men's soccer side needed security and police protection after their IDC final match against Ba.
Spectators nearly invaded the pitch but were prevented by security personnel and police officers.
Suva Women's Football Association president Surendra Prasad said his team was not worried about security problems.
"We are not worried about security problems because that incident happened on Sunday and our tournament is different," he said.
"Besides, the Fiji Football Association will provide the normal security at the venue."
The capital side are defending the title and are expecting tough competition in the Bargain Box/Bargain World sponsored tournament. "Four of our top players will not play in the tournament as last year's Fiji player of the year, Priya Singh is not available, defender Kini Ravai now the coach, our star goalkeeper Mereoni Uluiviti is sick and our Chinese player Jessica is out of the country.
"But we are training very hard for this tournament and the girls know that it will not be easy to defend the title but we are going there to give our best shot."
Should Suva win the title, they will keep the title for a third straight year.
"I would like to thank all the players for their commitment and their parents and families and we are going into this tournament with high hopes and we hope to retain our title," Prasad said.
Suva, Labasa, Rewa, Lami, Navua, Nadroga, Nadi, Tavua, Ba and Lautoka will take part in the tournament.
The pool draws will be done today.
