THE Labasa Football Association has been given time until this afternoon to confirm their participation in the Pacific Cup.

An initiative by the New Zealand Fiji Soccer Incorporated (NZFSInc) and Australia Fiji Soccer Association, the Pacific Cup will see a total of 10 teams from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji compete in a three-day tournament.

Four teams from Fiji will participate in the tournament every year and the teams will be the semi-finalist of the annual Battle of the Giants tournament.

Ba, Lautoka, Nadi and Labasa were the finalists this year and were given the invitation to participate in the Pacific Cup that will be held in Auckland, New Zealand.

Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel told Times Sport that Ba, Nadi and Lautoka have confirmed participation.

He said Labasa was the only team that had yet to confirm.

"Labasa had given an indication but we need confirmation and they are given time until tomorrow afternoon (today) to confirm their participation," Patel said.

"If they respond, Suva will be invited to take part in the event if Labasa refuses to participate," he said.

He said the airfare, accommodation and local transport of the team in Auckland would be taken care of by the NZFSInc.
