FIJI'S top female triathlete Nau Dakuliga has set her goal to compete at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

And the Sabeto lass, believes impressing at the World Triathlon Championship is a pathway to qualify for the 2016 Games.

Dakuliga is competing at the WTC in Auckland, New Zealand where she would gauge her strength against the other top class triathletes around the globe.

The Nadi-based athlete is optimistic of her chances in New Zealand. She acknowledged the support of her friends who contributed to financing her trip to Auckland.

"Nothing would be possible without the help of a great team. The support from friends and family and the advice from coaches, I am really fortunate to train at the world class gym, Millennium Institute of Sport & Health, with a few other supportive friends in Auckland," she said.

Fiji Triathlon Association sent five athletes to represent the country at the world meet. Sikeli Rawlingson, Lui Pene, Dakuliga, Caleb Koroi and Steve Thon are Fiji's representatives.

Dakuliga said the event had given the triathletes the opportunity to compare themselves against their many rivals around the world.

The WTC starts today in Auckland.
