THE outstanding success of the Lautoka Business Houses Mixed Netball tournament and various other sports programs being undertaken at the Sugar City will soon see the formation of the first-ever Lautoka Sports Council

This was the statement made by Lautoka special administrator Praveen Bala during his closing address at the completion of the three-month netball tourney at the Lautoka multi-purpose court on Monday.

"The spirit of togetherness and the sportsmanship displayed by all teams was remarkable. In this regard, I will be calling a meeting of all sports organisations in two weeks time to discuss the formation of the first-ever Lautoka Sports Council. This body will oversee all tournaments and ensure they are being co-ordinated efficiently and effectively," he said.

"The LSC will also form a committee that will be tasked with designing and setting up an annual sports awards event that will recognise outstanding achievements by exceptional athletes. I believe this will raise the level of sport in Lautoka and also promote healthy competition for participators," he added.

Mr Bala commended the organisers of all sporting events in Lautoka for their continuing efforts in ensuring that sports fanatics were kept busy with play-offs and competitions throughout the calendar year.
