Escape inquiry

THE Fiji Corrections Service is investigating three of its officers who were on duty last month when five prisoners escaped from the Naboro Medium Facility.

FCS spokeswoman Ana Tudrau said the investigation was taking time because of its comprehensiveness.

Ms Tudrau confirmed that a board of inquiry had been set up to investigate the three officers.

She said once the investigations were completed, Commissioner of Prisons Lieutenant Colonel Ifereimi Vasu would decide on the next course of action.

The five who escaped from the Naboro facility on September 17 were Isoa Waqa, Solomoni Qurai, Tevita Sugu, Josaia Usumaki, and Epeli Qaraniqio.

Four of the prisoners were recaptured on September 21 while Waqa wasrecaptured on September 25.
