APART from saving lives in cases of fire, a group of fire officers in Labasa are undergoing a customer service skills to improve their services to the public.

The two-day training, which started yesterday, was held at the Department of Agriculture's Northern conference room.

Divisional fire officer Northern John Pillay said the initiative featured safety structural fire and inspection training.

"The training will educate the officers to improve their services to the public in terms of customer relations," Mr Pillay said.

"It's the first impression we give to the public that will fully portray the image of the National Fire Authority."

Having attended many awareness programs and training sessions this year, Mr Pillay said the officers would not only further their knowledge of controlling fires and saving lives but also budgeting and using money wisely.

"With the ongoing awareness programs, we have seen an improvement in our line of work as officers are now making it their business to work efficiently with dedication and commitment.

"We want the officers to be multi-skilled so they can offer their assistance wherever and whenever necessary."

The workshop ends today.
