FORMER British Open champions Sir Bob Charles and Ian Baker Finch are among prominent golfers who will feature in the Westin Fiji Resort and Spa's inaugural Legends Golf Classic which starts at the Natadola Bay Championship course today.

Sir Bob won the British Open in 1963 while Finch lifted the title in 1991. The other top golfers include 1990 USPGA champion Wayne Grady, Australian and New Zealand Open and PGA champions Rodger Davis, Simon Owen, Peter Fowler, Bob Shearer, Terry Gale, Brian Jones and Mike Harwood.

The international pro-am tournament will be played on two of the best golf courses in the country.

The tournament will start off at the Natadola Bay course with the next two rounds to be played at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club course in Nadi.

The tournament has been scheduled before the start of the major events on the Legends Tour in Australia to ensure that many of the leading professionals could compete.

A total of 80 amateur golfers will participate in the tournament.

The Legends senior professional golf circuit in Australasia has grown in leaps and bounds over the past five years and now has over 40 events scheduled for 2012.

The Australasian Legends tour includes players who have won numerous tournaments globally.

The professionals will be playing for a total prize purse of $80,000.
