TAILEVU Naitasiri coach Tagi Vonolagi has revealed the difficulties his side faced on their way to victory in the premier division of the Inter District Championship.
On Sunday, T/Naitasiri defeated Taveuni 2-0 in the final of the Courts-sponsored tournament at Ba's Govind Park.
The former national captain said financial problems was the biggest obstacle his side faced heading into the tournament.
Second to that was accommodation for the team and its officials in the soccer crazy town.
"It was not an easy path for us to the title," Vonolagi said.
"Apart from thinking about our games in the tournament, we had our meals and accommodation to worry about," he said.
"Everybody will talk about win here today (Sunday) on the field but the real victory was coping with very little finances and resources to get to where we are now."
Vonolagi said his team relied on rations and assistance and were accommodated at an orphanage near the venue of the tournament.
"We would like to thank all those kind people who came and gave food to the players.
"Also a big vinaka vakalevu to the orphanage for accommodating us for the duration of the tournament
"And I would like to thank everyone who worked behind the scenes to help the team."
The side will now prepare to play Taveuni once again. This time it will be in the third leg of the Fiji Sun/ GP Batteries Premier Division playoffs.
