ARMY engineers have been commended for their dedication and hard work by the military.

This came as a result of the sacrifices made by army engineers currently working on the Valaga-Korosi project in Vanua Levu.

The project outcome will be the construction of a new road leading directly to Natewa Bay.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information, the road "will link Saqani, Savusavu and Labasa".

"This long-awaited project will see villagers have access to markets in both Savusavu and Labasa," it read.

Fiji Military Force's Landforce Commander Liuetenant Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga commended the sacrifice made by the officers and the engineers' division.

Lt-Col Tikoitoga noted the project was indeed one to be proud of and the task would not be easy.

"You leave your families behind and you work in hard conditions. But we adapt and we're trained to work in these conditions," he said.

"In the end, remember that you are transforming the lives of people here and the people of Fiji. Remember that is something to be proud of."

The site is being worked on by about 13 army engineers.
