THE Extreme Challenge to Cure Kids trek began yesterday with teams from Australia and New Zealand, to help raise funds for children in Fiji.

Among these 50 participants was third time participant, Jeremy Walsh of the Sofitel Resort in Nadi.

Mr Walsh, the resort's executive assistant manager, took part in the event two years ago and continued to do so because of the event's contribution to Fiji.

"I participated a couple of years back and the experience was so awesome and so I'm now part of the organising committee," he said.

"Together people from different parts of the Pacific will help raise funds for kids in Fiji as well as have a fun time in taking part in different activities. It's also just a terrific way to see and share Fijian culture," he said.

Mr Walsh, who lives in Nadi, is a fan of Fijian culture and art and advocates giving back to the communities of Fiji.

The race commences today with more than 50 people from Fiji, Australia and New Zealand taking part in the five-day trek course.
